On their MySpace page, Stafford based group Regards explain that they have “tried to remain as independent as possible” and that is exactly what they have done leading up to the release of debut single, ‘After Many A Summer’. The single, which is available on iTunes and also on 7” vinyl, was released on the band’s own label Tuniversal.
‘After Many A Summer’ is a well written indie-rock song that starts off slow before developing into a powerful chorus that features some clever, melodic guitar playing. Another aspect of the track that stands out is the strong and gravelly vocals from frontman Matthew, who convinces as a good singer throughout the song.
Regardless of whether or not they choose to carry on releasing records independently, it would be great to see Regards continue producing this kind of result during 2010. If they can prove themselves as consistent creators of good alternative rock music, then we may find them appearing on a few festival bills over the summer.
